On February 22, ACR staff and local nonprofit leaders met with Representative Linda Sanchez (D-CA) in her Norwalk, CA, office, to discuss the importance of charitable giving in the local community. Rep. Sanchez is a member of the Ways and Means Committee, which has sole jurisdiction over the charitable sector.
We were joined by a variety of nonprofit organizations, including the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, Red Cross Los Angeles, LA Philharmonic, Long Beach Community Foundation, YMCA of Whittier and California Association of Nonprofits.
Attendees had the chance to share their mission work with the Congresswoman, as well as convey the importance of addressing the decline in Americans giving to charity and the expected decline in charitable giving post-tax reform. It was especially timely given the recent giving trends that were released
ACR will continue its district engagement project with other tax writers around the country, and we look forward to cultivating relationships among key members of congress and local nonprofit organizations.
